Week 2: Mind - Day 1: Meditation

“You have heard that it was said, ‘you shall not commit adultery.’ But I say to you, everyone who looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” - Matthew 5:27-28. What Jesus is teaching us here is that we may be acting “correctly” by the standards of the law or society, however that is not good enough. It comes down to having the correct mindset. If we do not act on our lustful thoughts but we entertain them, we are just as guilty. If the temptation to daydream inappropriately arises but we choose to turn from it, then we are winning the battle.

“you think what you see”

I’m sure you’ve heard “you are what you eat,” but the saying applies the same to our brain “you think what you see.” Our mindset is directly affected by what we are seeing, hearing, and reading.

This week, let’s focus on evaluating where our mind is and what is fueling our brain.

Let’s take the time to see what are the best ways we can prepare our mind for Christ.

“Do not conform yourself to this age but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and pleasing and perfect” - Romans 12:2.

In His strength,

Paul
